Joshua 1:8 “This book of the law shall not depart out of the
mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe
to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy
way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”

Rabbi means teacher and in the Judaism this means a teacher
of the Torah. The word Rabbi literally means ‘My Master’ in Hebrew. The bronze
Rabbi sculpture by Gib Singleton is stylized and elongated, much like his
composition in his other sculptures. He respectfully poses the Rabbi in a dignified
way as a symbol of knowledge who knows the path of God and the great secrets of
the universe. Lovingly the Rabbi embraces the Torah, God’s Law. The Rabbi
presents and reveals the truth of the Torah. The dress of the Rabbi is in the
tradition of the Chassid movement, a mystical sect of Judaism whose followers
typically dress in black with large brimmed hats. Around the shoulders of the
Rabbi is the tallit or prayer shawl. The face of the Rabbi in the sculpture
shows a humble yet very wise and learned man. A person the viewer wants to know
and be a part of their life.
