Romans 3:24 “Being justified freely by his grace through the
redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”

Redemption means the repurchase of something sold. It is a
rescue and deliverance. Theologically speaking the means deliverance from the
sin and what is termed as salvation. Gib Singleton has called this sculpture
“the most difficult sculpture piece I have ever done.” Christ is placed triumphantly.
The eyes of Christ are meant to meet the eyes of the viewer. In back of Jesus’
head is a halo of holiness and the cross indicating that He has brought back
mankind from sin. He holds a crown in His right hand, the thorny crown of shame
has become a crown of glory. The left hand points towards Himself, He is saying
I am redemption.” Singleton wrote a saying on the bottom of the original wax to
create the bronze sculpture. He wrote “The buck stops here”; indicating that
completeness is Christ’s act of redemption. Nothing more is needed. This is it.

“In the end, I don’t think redemption is about remembering
or regretting our sins. I think it’s about peace and forgiveness. It’s a
renewal of your self. It’s coming back from the dead. It’s getting your soul
back.” – Gib Singleton
